I just learned about this initiative today and immediately joined. Just a suggestion: It may be more appealing to tie it with "five years of filing taxes as a "resident alien" including contribution to medicare ans SS taxes". In other words, any permanent legal resient (GC holder) who has filed taxes as a "resident alien" for five years while working in US and contributed to medicare and SS taxes should be eligible for citizenship filing. I haven't open any SR with USCIS , but some folks mention that when they open SR they get standard reply to wait for 30 days. With visa dates going back and forth, customer should open SR as early as month start so if dates remain current for atleast two month they can get some reply. My question is, based on my old H1, do I need to go out of the country? Second question is, In my old passport there are 2 valid US visas, 10 Yr B1 and 3 yr H1. How do I get them on to new passport? 1. No you need not go out of USA, because new I94 is valid until 11/2009. However, you need to get visa stamped within one year of expiry of first one, if you want to travel frequently. I have heard that if it is more than one year, entire precess of verification starts again. In automated appointments, consulates provides option for within one year. 2. Once H1B is used, subsequently B1/B2 cann't be used. When you go to any consulates, they will cancel it.
