"Saya percaya sudah tiba masanya PKNS mengambil keputusan yang tepat untuk membatalkan rancangan pembangunan itu. "Projek ini jelas sekali tidak dapat diteruskan memandangkan projek ini bertentangan dengan Akta Perancangan Bandar dan Desa 1976 dan sewajarnya kita menamatkan kontroversi ini dengan segera," katanya dalam satu kenyataan media hari ini. Menurutnya, pendedahan oleh Jawatankuasa Selamatkan Padang Rakyat bahawa cadangan pembangunan Kompleks Sukan PKNS itu berdasarkan versi tidak sah Rancangan Tempatan Petaling Jaya 2 (RTPJ2) mempunyai implikasi besar bukan sahaja untuk projek tersebuttetapi Petaling Jaya secara keseluruhan. "Sebelum ini masyarakat setempat dimaklumkan bahawa padang tersebut dizonkan sebagai kawasan komersial. Malah Ahli Majlis MBPJ (Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya) dan saya sendiri dibekalkan maklumat yang sama. "Hakikat bahawa wujud bercanggahan di antara RTPJ2 yang digazetkan secara sah oleh Jabatan Perancang Bandar dan Desa Negeri Selangor dengan versi kedua membangkitkan pelbagai persoalan. "MBPJ turut bersetuju bahawa versi pertama yang menyatakan bahawa Padang PKNS merupakan kawasan rekreasi merupakan versi yang sah," terang beliau. Menurut Nik Nazmi, sebelum ini beliau telah menggesa agar perkara ini dibawa ke Jawatankuasa Terpilih mengenai Kewibawaan, Kebertanggungjawaban dan Ketelusan (Selcat) Dewan Negeri Selangor. Semalam, penduduk Kelana Jaya mengadakan demonstrasi aman mendesak Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim segera batalkan projek pembangunan di tapak padang Kompleks Sukan PKNS Kelana Jaya.
