HULU SELANGOR: Thirty children aged four and below here will be given free health counselling by a private hospital for five years under the Permata Negara programme.

The Prime Minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said such programmes could help monitor the health of Permata children so that they grew well and developed to their optimum potential.

"The Prince Court Medical Centre (PCMC) will conduct this health care programme which will also be supported by holistic development.

Neuroscience studies show the first three years are the most import in a child's brain development.

"I also hope such programmes will encourage parent participation to furnish children with knowledge on health education for the good of the whole family," she said when launching the Permata Negara PCMC Adoption Programme, here yesterday.

Also present was PCMC chief executive officer Stuart JV Pack, Hulu Selangor MP P.Kamalanathan and the wife of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister, Prof Datin Seri Dr Aishah Salleh.

Rosmah, who is Permata Negara patron, hoped that more private medical centres would contribute towards creating awareness on the importance of child healthcare, especially among low-income families.

"Early child's health care should be planned and integrated for child development, and should be provided by all quarters regardless private or government," she said. — Bernama

Meanwhile, Pack said the programme which includes yearly medical screening, health talks by the clinicians, dieticians and physiotherapists was part of their Community Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.

"This is all in support of the Malaysian government's effort to improve early child development, as well as contribute to the nation's human capital development," he said. — Bernama
