B & Best seafood noodles has been on my "to-do" list for quite some time. I blame it on my foodie friends who constantly flood my social media newsfeed with images of B & Best's scrumptious looking seafood noodles. I didn't get around to it until recently, when we were around Kelana Jaya to run some errands.
Do bear in mind that this is a "premium" seafood noodles place – meaning patrons get to choose from a wide variety of fresh seafood to go with clear soup noodles, tom yum noodles or even porridge. We spotted red snapper, grouper fish, oysters, pomfret, prawns of all sizes and even abalone.
One thing I really like about B & Best is their homemade sambal belacan that's prepared purely with chilli, belacan and lime juice. It really packs a punch, and tastes just like how my mum does it at home.
KampungBoy ordered a bowl of clear soup noodles with red snapper fish fillets and fish balls (RM16). We spotted some vegetables, seaweed and preserved radish that gave a natural sweetness to this light, satisfying soup. The thick cuts of red snapper fish fillets were really fresh and succulent. However, the fish balls were disappointing as they lacked flavour and the texture was too soft.
I went for a bowl of "konlo" kway teow with a whole pomfret fish (RM23). I liked how they topped my bowl of noodles with some crispy pork lard. The oil coated each and every strand of the noodles, and gave them some seriously delicious meaty flavour.
My whole pomfret fish was served in a bowl of clear soup. The fish was soft, fine-textured and sweet. I liked how they sliced the fish up, making eating it a lot easier.
We love having the flexibility of choosing our own fresh ingredients to go with either noodles or porridge. B & Best is definitely a place that we do not mind returning to.
