Third port likely in <b>Port Klang</b> Posted: 25 Sep 2011 07:25 PM PDT PORT KLANG: A third port is expected to be established by next year to handle the growing demand for port facilities here. Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman Datuk Dr Teh Kim Poo said currently Northport and Westport could only handle demand until 2016. "PKA has given its approval to build a third port, but the Cabinet has yet to give the green light. A third port will definitely bring much help in complementing the other two ports," he said at the closing ceremony of the Port Klang's golden jubilee here yesterday. Northport and Westport connect over 300 ports worldwide and are ranked among the world's top 20. The ports are also regarded important hub ports in the Asian region. Teh said the proposed third port, which would be located near Westport, will be overseen by PKA although the land where the new port will be located will be privately owned. -The Star-
