KUALA LUMPUR: Police have detained three men believed to have been involved in robbing RM61,400 from a bank's ATM machine in Jalan Segambut, on Sept 10.

Kuala Lumpur CID Chief Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the three suspects, aged between 22 and 25, were detained at a house in Batu Caves, Gombak near here on Sept 28.

"During the 3.30pm incident on Sept 10, two armed robbers, one wearing a full-faced helmet and another wearing a mask had pointed a gun at two staff of the bank who had opened an ATM machine to check for repairs.

"The robbers had snatched a sling bag that contained a revolver and five live bullets from one of the bank worker who was a security guard before ordering them to open the deposit box inside the ATM machine.

"The robbers grabbed the cash inside the box and escaped on two motorcycles driven by two of their accomplices who were waiting outside the bank," said Ku.

He added that police were looking for the fourth suspect whose last known addresses were Batu 23 1/2, Jalan Sahom, Sungai Siput Selatan, Kampar, Perak and Flat Taman Desa, Batu Caves 1, Selangor.

Ku said during initial investigations, one of the suspects led police to a rubbish dumping site near the flats where two pistols were recovered – one used by the robbers and the other snatched from the security guard.

He added that the group of robbers who comprised a former security guard were believed to be responsible for a number of robberies involving ATM machines in Tanjung Malim and Kuala Kubu Baru. — Bernama
